Samstag, 30.06. Vernissage Foto Ausstellung: „Perdidit locis proxime”

More on the Topic of Lost Places. It has been more than 20 years since the Berlin Wall fell and the East opened up to the West. In that time a huge migration of people occurred. More that a million people fled to the West to find better prospects. This left a vacuum in its wake.  Leipzig's population shrunk by 100,000 people. Most of the East looked like a ghost town. Since 2000, people have been moving back to the East. However, there are still more than 2,000 million buildings in Leipzig alone. This is half as many as in 2010. As more and more of  these buildings fall under the scaffolding and eventually get rented, the empty space and the creativity one had to use it, albeit illegally, also disappears. With the release of the Movie"Lost Places" and the cult that has grown up around Urban Exploration or as it is locally known as, House-diving, I thought it would be an appropriate topic before the summer vacation.  Here, five local photographers show their interpretation on that theme
