Just Drum WorkshopStudents will have the opportunity to experience drumming from Louis Romanos, a professional musician who lived and performed in New Orleans, the birthplace of Jazz, for fifteen years.   The workshop will be from 4pm-7pm.  The educational focus is on the following curriculum:

-New Orleans Second-line drumming
-Feel and Groove – The responsibility of the drums in popular music
-Learning melodic approach to Jazz drumming
-Funk drumming
-Function  of the clave as it pertains to Jazz/Funk styles
-Strategies for drumming with sequences in a live performance situation
-Playing free/improvisation
-Practicing strategies:  How to practice for the real world of drumming
-This is a hands-on workshop:  students will play in front of their peers.
